CONCORD, NH - January 10, 2006 - BittWare, Inc., the leading supplier of hybrid (DSP and FPGA) board-level solutions based on Analog Devices' TigerSHARC® and Altera's FPGA technology, announced today at West 2006 the release of ATLANTiS Rev 2.0 (Advanced Transfer Link Architecture for New TigerSHARC), an I/O switching and processing device. ATLANTiS, implemented in the FPGA on each of BittWare's TS201 (T2) Family boards, facilitates off-board I/O and provides communications routing and processing, allowing system designers to setup and dynamically change connections as their specific applications require. All inputs and outputs are routed through ATLANTiS, supporting a throughput of greater than 5 GB/sec per cluster. By tightly integrating the DSPs, PCI bridge, PMC interface, and I/O peripherals with the on-board FPGA, ATLANTiS gives designers nearly infinite options for configuring and routing the I/O, greatly increasing the performance and flexibility of multi-processor, multi-board applications.
"BittWare's business is high-end embedded multiprocessing DSP and FPGA solutions," stated Jeffry Milrod, President and CEO of BittWare. "Providing customers with hardware is only part of our job, we also need to ensure that our customers have the tools to effectively and efficiently integrate our products into their applications. This is where ATLANTiS shines. Our TS201 boards have an incredible amount of I/O bandwidth available via link ports, digital IO, and high-speed serial transceivers. By routing data between any and all of these, while allowing the customer to easily add FPGA processing at any place in the data flow, ATLANTiS greatly simplifies system implementation and integration."
About ATLANTiS 2.0
Each T2 cluster consists of four TigerSHARC processors and one ATLANTiS FPGA. The eight bi-directional TigerSHARC link ports routed to the ATLANTiS FPGA provide 2 GB/sec of data transfer between the DSPs and ATLANTiS. Using its eight SerDes high-speed serial transceiver channels and its digital I/O blocks, each ATLANTiS can communicate off-board at greater than 5 GB/sec; boards containing two ATLANTiS clusters can provide greater than 10 GB/sec. ATLANTiS can be configured to connect any I/O or link port to any other I/O or link port, allowing any combination of inputs and outputs to be routed together; broadcast, multicast, and dynamic reconfigurability are also supported. The digital I/O blocks, including PMC+ and high performance off-board connectors, can be individually configured as single-ended or LVDS. ATLANTiS also allows designers to route data to internal FPGA processing blocks for pre-, post-, or co-processing. This new release also added flow-control, eliminating the possibility of data loss.
Software Support
The ATLANTiS Navigator™, which is included in the BittWorks Toolkit, is a configuration utility that provides a GUI through which customers can configure and program ATLANTiS according to their individual application and routing requirements. This greatly simplifies designing with ATLANTiS and provides designers with tremendous ease-of-use.
